Meet Dana

profilepicture-square.JPEG

Meet our new clinician Dana Walker, LMSW (she/her).

Hello! My name is Dana Walker, and I am proud to be a part of the Prism Counseling team! I hold Masters degrees in Social Work (2025) and Music, Mind, and Brain (2020); plus a Bachelors in Behavioral Neuroscience (2019). My approach is rooted in understanding the interaction between a person, their brain, and their environment. I work with folks who are navigating depression, anxiety, and life changes. I also have a strong background in case management and support folks with increasing independence in the community or accessing social services. I am very passionate about helping create safe, empowering spaces for the LGBTQ+ community. I look forward to supporting you in becoming your best self!

Dana will begin offering virtual sessions in early July and will see clients in person once our Thomaston location opens later this year.

If you're interested in scheduling with Dana, please reach out our office administrator, Devin, at devin@prismcounselingct.com.

We are so excited to announce that we have signed a lease on a beautiful space in Thomaston to open our SECOND LOCATION! Once again, we are opening in a rural area where there are very few existing supports for the queer community.

We will plan to begin seeing clients in this new location starting in late summer, and we are already accepting clients who are interested in joining our waiting list for the new location.

Interested clients can email our amazing admin, Devin, at devin@prismcounselingct.com

We cannot wait to expand our services to this new area of CT!

Community Days at Prism.png

More info about Shaman Sam Garcia Jr. here:

What is Soul Retrieval?: Soul Retrieval is a profound shamanic healing practice that restores lost aspects of your soul essence—parts of your personality, vitality, and energy that may have been lost due to trauma, abuse, addiction, or accidents. Reclaiming these soul essences brings deep healing, balance, and harmony to your body, mind, and soul.

What to Expect in a Soul Retrieval Session: We will explore the aspects of your life that are calling for healing, such as past traumas, personal relationships, career, or your sense of purpose. This conversation helps me uncover which parts of your soul and psyche need attention and healing. This will be an abbreviated version of this ceremony due to it being a group event.

Next Community Day: Saturday, July 25th 2026

If you have an idea for a Community Day or a skill you would like to share with us, please reach out and let us know!

Caregivers of LGBTQ+ YouthAdults Counseling Group (1).png

Group Counseling for Caregivers of LGBTQ+ Kids with JJ

This group will be a supportive and educational place for parents navigating the current social struggles and pressures of raising and loving their queer kids. In a world that works daily to erase them, parents are the most vital line of defense in keeping queer youth alive and well.
In this group, we will discuss challenges, share resources, and even learn about gender! Books and educational information will be provided to help parents reflect on their own relationship with Gender and their understandings. We will also share additional support resources.
Come as you are, and grow how you will! Starting January 13th at 6:15 pm, this group will run once monthly, meeting the second Tuesdays of each month.

$25/session private pay with sliding scale option, or use insurance if applicable.

Group Counseling for Gender Expansive Adults

This group is offered for adults who identify as gender expansive, or who may be questioning their gender identity, to connect twice a month and talk about whatever might be on their minds. Some sessions are open-structure and some are more structured with a focus on psychoeducation.

Our group meets on Fridays from 1-2pm at Prism, with an option to join via Zoom if needed. We meet twice per month, and schedule as we go. January meetings will be on January 9 and 23.

$25/session private pay with sliding scale option, or use insurance if applicable.

If this group seems like a good fit for you, we hope you will join us. Advanced registration is required.
