Next Community Day at Prism, October 25, 10am-noon
Come connect with old and new friends in our cozy and welcoming space during our next monthly Community Day.
At our next Community Day, we will be getting nostalgic and making Shrinky Dinks!
Prism's Community Days are monthly events to help our LGBTQ+ community and allies meet and build connections and take some time to relax and have fun with people who just "get it." And you might also learn a new skill along the way! Our events started last year in response to the increased fear and sadness that the community was (and is) experiencing, and have continued due to the very positive response we have received.
Open to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community and allies, all ages!
Reply "Interested" to our Facebook event to receive updates when new activities are planned.

Prism is excited to partner with Christa Steiner (she/her) to offer gender affirming voice lessons for singers of all identities, ages 10 and up! Oh, and did we mention she is volunteering her time for these FREE lessons?!
Christa Steiner (she/her) is a vocalist and theatre artist who holds a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre/Vocal Performance from Manhattan School of Music ('20). Christa recently was awarded the title of Miss Constitution State 2026, a preliminary to Miss Connecticut. As Miss Constitution State, she is excited to advocate for mental health recovery for young people with her Community Service Initiative, Out of the Dark. Christa is excited to partner with Prism as part of her CSI, and bring their work to the Miss Connecticut stage next June. (We can't wait to cheer her on!)

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Christa is looking to give back to her community. In partnership with Prism, Christa is offering gender-affirming voice lessons. She is excited to work with all queer folks to help them sing and speak in their desired register. For all students, but especially trans and non-binary individuals, Christa will take a physiology based approach, explaining how a student's vocal anatomy can support their desired sound.
These lessons are being offered for ages 10 and up, and will take place at a location in Eastern Central CT or virtually. Details will be provided upon registration.

No experience is necessary for these lessons. Whether you are a performer, an aspiring performer, or just looking to be more confident belting it out in your car, Christa will meet you where you're at and help you reach your goals. Come as you are and learn how your voice can reflect your authentic self!
Whether you are looking for long term vocal improvement, or are looking to coach material for an audition, Christa is excited to work with you!

Lifting for Gender Euphoria
Join Prism and Aleia Hayes (he/him), personal fitness trainer, for an informative workshop that answers questions that we hear ALL THE TIME from clients at Prism.
Many clients want to work out, but want to build muscle in ways that are gender affirming and decrease dysphoria. We aren't experts in this field, so we have found someone who is!
Aleia has built his business around fitness training for the LGBTQ+ community, and is collaborating with Prism on a FREE two-workshop series teaching individuals how to get in shape and work towards getting an affirming body they feel good in.
Our informational session was great and received very positive feedback! The second part will be an in-person, hands-on session located next door to our office at Backstage Dance on Monday, November 10 from 5:30-6:30pm (shout out to Michelle Bailey and Backstage Dance for hosting us!). You are welcome to join us for the in-person session regardless of whether you attended the virtual session.
This workshop is for LGBTQ+ individuals ages 18+. Advanced registration is required.

Group Counseling for Caregivers of LGBTQ+ Kids with JJ
This group will be a supportive and educational place for parents navigating the current social struggles and pressures of raising and loving their queer kids. In a world that works daily to erase them, parents are the most vital line of defense in keeping queer youth alive and well.
In this group, we will discuss challenges, share resources, and even learn about gender! Books and educational information will be provided to help parents reflect on their own relationship with Gender and their understandings. We will also share additional support resources.
Come as you are, and grow how you will! Starting September 9th at 6:15 pm, this group will run monthly, meeting the second Tuesday of each month.
$25/session private pay with sliding scale option, or use insurance if applicable.

Group Counseling for Gender Expansive Adults
This group is offered for adults who identify as gender expansive, or who may be questioning their gender identity, to connect twice a month and talk about whatever might be on their minds. Some sessions are open-structure and some are more structured with a focus on psychoeducation.

Our group meets on Fridays from 1-2pm at Prism, with an option to join via Zoom if needed. We meet twice per month, and schedule as we go.
