Prism Community Events

We at Prism Counseling and Support believe authentic connection is a radical act of mental health. Our LGBTQ+ community events create affirming spaces outside of sessions where you can meet people, share real conversations, and foster togetherness.

Monthly Community Days

What are our Community Days?

Prism hosts a Community Day on the last Saturday of each month. Our Community Days began after the 2024 election and are a chance for us to spend time in a safe and inclusive space with other people who "get it." We have a different activity or theme for each month, from crafting to movies to educational workshops, and so much more.

If you have not joined us for one of our Community Days yet, we hope you will try us out in 2026!

Book Talk with Claire R McCarthy 9/14

four-arrows-w_-series.webp

Monday September 14th from 5:30 to 7:30 Join us as we talk to Author and Transquat podcast host Claire McCarthy about her new magical realism novel Four Arrows.

She can save a life. But every healing steals years of her own.

Kerry Cullinane learns at age five that she is a Healer bound to The Dark, a realm that claims her after every healing. Her abilities come with strict limits and heavy costs. She has only four chances to use this power, and the price of saving a life is time. Sometimes months. Sometimes years. Separated from her body, suspended in shadow, never knowing when she’ll return.

And she’s not alone in The Dark.

Kerry’s story unfolds across three decades of American life. A childhood in a loving family, worlds apart from the uprising at Stonewall. A first love shadowed by a community’s homophobia. And then the AIDS crisis—when tens of thousands are dying, and healing one person at a time feels hopeless.

What good is her gift when she can’t save everyone? What remains of her when so much has been taken? And what will it cost her to finally reach out—not to heal, but to be seen?

Date: Thursday, September 10
Time: 5:30-7:30 PM
Location: 176 Route 81, Killingworth, Connecticut

Welcome to our Community Mutual Aid Program, an initiative built on solidarity. We at Prism believe that looking out for one another is what makes our community strong. If you are experiencing a difficult time or facing unexpected hardship, you can fill out our assistance form and receive gift cards to help cover essential needs like groceries, gas, or hygiene products.

For those who are in a position to give, your donation directly funds these gift cards, providing immediate and flexible relief to someone who needs it.  No judgment,  just people supporting people.

Whether you need a helping hand today or have a little extra to share, you belong here. Together, we can ensure no one in our community has to face hardship alone.

Please email devin@prismcounselingct.com with any questions or if you are interested in donating!
